Welcome, Sister! I’m so glad you’re here. My prayer is that in the coming tabs you will get a glimpse of Women’s Ministry at Fellowship and how you might get connected with what God is doing here. You are important and your story matters and we’d love to invite you to journey with us as we celebrate what only God can do in the lives of the Sisterhood.
I’ve been serving as the Women’s Minister since the Fall of 2020, after God uprooted my husband and I from Florida after serving 11 years in Christian Higher Education. Entering into church ministry during the pandemic (not to mention being newly married) made for an interesting transition period but the Lord’s faithfulness, goodness, and calling over my life sustained me in the unknowns.
When I first arrived at Fellowship, I found it challenging to find “my place”—a place where I felt known and loved. So, my desire is that you might be able to find your place in Women’s Ministry. I get it, I know it’s not easy. Sometimes you have to be the one to initiate conversation, ask a lady to coffee, or step out of our comfort zone and attend an event but I want to encourage you that it’s worth the risk. God designed us to be in community, and we desire to provide a safe and welcoming place for you to be able to do just that. I’m sure we can swap stories of how we’ve experienced church hurt and friendship hurt but my prayer is that you will continue to press into following after Jesus and walk in obedience.
We offer some really wonderful ministry opportunities in Women’s Ministry but can I let you in on a little secret? We don’t and can’t do it all—we can’t meet every one of your needs or desires (though we may try). We can’t be the Savior only Jesus can. My desire is that we point you to Jesus who is the only one who can ultimately quench your thirst. Sister, You Belong Here. Welcome Home!
Blessings,
Karie Farley
Women's Minister
Cissy Matthews
Cissy has been blessed to be a part of the Fellowship family for 17 years. The Women of Fellowship prayed, cried, and encouraged her through the grief process of losing her husband two years ago. Women's Ministry has always been a part of her faith journey. She can't imagine life without studying and applying God's truth with women who are yearning for God and ways we can bring Him Glory. Joy is her favorite word. She finds pleasure in serving the Lord in her love of hospitality, embroidery, and with Fellowship's Prayer Quilt Ministry. She feels blessed and humbled, in this season of life, to be called to serve the "Women of Fellowship" in our Women's Ministry. She looks forward to watching God work in our lives as we study together.
Alexis Gurkin
Alexis was born in south Florida, grew up in Colorado, and has called Atlanta home since 2004 when she and her husband, Aaron, relocated to work with students in their roles as full-time missionaries with the college ministry of Cru. She is mom to three (Caleb 16, Luke 14, Susanna 10) and enjoys reading, playing tennis, being outdoors, traveling, and stirring things up.
Wenona Richardson
Wenona is from Baltimore, MD, and loves the Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart. She has a son named Chris and toddler twin grandbabies, who are her heart. Wenona received her Bachelor of Science degree in Family & Consumer Sciences from Morgan State University. She enjoys serving others and loves reading, cooking, sewing, and spending time with family.
Holly DeMarino
Holly is married to Anthony and they have been attending Fellowship regularly for the last four years. Last year they adopted a sweet 4-year-old chihuahua named Ripley. Together they love hiking, watching movies, and planning big adventures. In her alone time she loves playing video games and crafting different art projects.
Kaala Guess
Kaala has been a part of the Fellowship family for 5 years and has loved being involved in Women's Ministry! She is a military kid so “home is where the heart is!” Kaala is a teacher and a coach, and loves the opportunities the Lord has given her for discipleship in and out of the church! She loves to travel, spend time outdoors, and read!
Analda Merritt
Analda serves as the Administrative Assistant for Women’s Ministry and feels that God truly created the job description for her as it combines her love for working with women, praying, planning events, and shopping all in one! With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Purdue University and decades of motherhood to 5 children and wife for those same decades, Analda brings tons of life experience and passion to what she does. When she is not working, she is often found working her private business, CAMBRIO, an online discount sales company, or shopping. She also loves to travel when time permits, and to entertain her family by cooking and having awesome fellowship! Analda is married to Cedric, her best friend and constant reminder of God’s good gifts!
