The House is Up!
Thank you all for your generosity and prayers for our house build in Masa. We had an amazing team of guys go in and within two weeks we got the whole house framed and secure. Praise God! Many Iski guys also pitched in and helped with the construction.
The church also helped organize and ship in (via canoe) all of our house-building supplies. It takes a team! We are so thankful! I am in there again this week to finish plumbing and install the solar system.
Thankfully, I have more help with this from one of our tech support missionaries. Nisae will join up with me next week, and Eden soon after and we will be there as a family over Christmas.
While we are in we plan to continue elder training with our three families in there, do some teaching, and Nisae will be assisting the church with future literacy planning and reading fluency testing.
Masa Church Grows!
Thank you for your continued prayers for the churches in Iski; for the Oguru church and the church in Masa village. A couple of weeks ago the Bible teachers in Masa along with help from the Oguru Bible teachers wrapped up a two-month long creation to Christ teaching with around 50 new people.
During my time in there for house building, I was able to attend many of the meetings and observe and give insight to the Bible teachers.
For the final lesson on the death, burial, and resurrection I helped two other bible teachers and we team-taught it.
It was such a joy to sit and listen to our Bible teachers give such a clear explanation of the gospel.
After the lesson, one lady said, “This talk (about Jesus) is true, I’ve never heard this kind of story before, I believe it!” We are praising God for the many new believers that were added to the Masa church!
New Bible Teachers!
We are also praising God for new additions to our small team of Bible teachers in Masa. Currently, we have 3 teachers who are being trained as elders at the moment.
One of the areas I have been giving insight into over the past few months is helping them discern who among the young men in the church we should ask to be discipled and trained as Bible teachers. We met to talk about this, and we all agreed on two young men. It was a joy to see their ability to discern who would be good candidates for this role.
Please be praying for these 2 young men and their families, that they would continue to grow in integrity and love for the Word.
Pray for Peter
Pray for one of our three main Bible teachers in Masa, we’ll call him Peter. Recently this last month Peter’s unbelieving brother died.
As hard as that is in itself, a group of people began to also blame Peter for his death saying that it was caused by the spirits because they were upset at Peter for leaving the way of the spirits and following the teaching that Ethnos360 missionaries brought.
This group of people then allegedly hit Peter’s daughter with a stick causing him to lose his temper and yell at these unbelievers.
Please pray for Peter and this situation, that he will be steadfast amidst these allegations and he would keep his testimony intact. We hope to bring encouragement and clarity to the situation when we are visiting this month.
Thank you again for your prayers and partnership in this ministry! We are so thankful for the team we have to continue to serve the Iski church into maturity!
